First thing - My apologies for us being late. We ran into some network problems at work last night which kept us there for the majority of the evening. With that said - onward to the picks.
2007 NFL Week 4
Sunday September 30, 2007
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
Eddie – PACKERS
What can I say? The Packs are 3-0. History will be made during this game so the real question is can Favre withstand the pressure to lead his team to 4-0? I think so.
Fred – PACKERS
Packers are undefeated and had some close, and big, wins. The Vikings are 1-2 and their starting QB is out with injury again. Packers continue rolling and go 4-0.
New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Eddie – JETS
Divisional rival with both teams playing “Where’s Waldo”. The Jets may have found a niche and the Bills just keep taking hit after hit. Something tells me to go with the home team but I still like Pennington and the Jets.
Fred – JETS
The Bills have a rookie QB, a stud WR will less than 80 receiving for the year. What the heck’s going on in Buffalo? The Jets racked up some huge points against Miami last week, and should do the same this week. The Jets take advantage of the situation and get the victory.
Oakland Raiders at Miami Dolphins
Eddie – DOLPHINS
The Raiders broke their losing streak last week just in time to start another one. Hey Miami – see what happens when you give the rock to Ronnie Brown? He scores.
Fred – DOLPHINS
Culpepper as the starting QB for the Raiders for the 1st time = Raiders lose. If he even becomes a good QB again, it’s going to take him time to do so. Cameron finally let Ronnie Brown be the main focal point on the offense last week and they almost won. He should continue to do so.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
Eddie – LIONS
I can’t believe I paused for a couple of minutes to actually consider taking the Lions. In fact I am going to take them. The Bears defense is good but the Lions have too many weapons not to mention Griese hasn’t started a game in two years.
Fred – LIONS
The Bears will be missing both of their starting CBs against the Lions ridiculous pass offense. Upset pick #1
Houston Texans at Atlanta Falcons
Eddie – TEXANS
Houston comes to Atlanta and Schaub rubs it into the face of the Falcons that they should have kept him.
Fred – FALCONS
Atlanta has to win a game this year and now’s a good opportunity, at home, against a team missing their #1 RB and WR. Upset pick #2
St. Louis Rams at Dallas Cowboys
Eddie – COWBOYS
The offense of the Rams has been injured on the battle field. Their season is over and the woes continue in Dallas.
Fred – COWBOYS
No Stephen Jackson, an ailing Bulger and offensive line…the Rams are banged up. The Cowboys, on the other hand, are playing like the best team in the NFC. The Cowboys collect another “W”.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
Eddie – RAVENS
Be careful Baltimore. Look what they did to the Bengals.
Fred – RAVENS
Jamal Lewis is going to want to rack up some yardage against his former team. But, there’s a problem. That defense is still really friggin’ good, while he is not. The Ravens win, but in a close one.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Arizona Cardinals
Eddie – STEELERS
No doubt the Arizona staff has improved the Cardinals team but they aren’t that good especially when they have to bring Warner in to jumpstart the offense.
Fred – STEELERS
Since Hines Ward is probably out, if Kurt Warner was the starting QB, I’d pick the Cardinals to get the upset. But that isn’t the case, so the Steelers defense has its way with Arizona and wins the game.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers
Eddie – SEAHAWKS
And I had so much hope for the 49ers this year. Norv Turner has managed to screw up two teams in one year.
Fred – 49ers
Niners offense looks putrid and the Seahawks offense looks great. Seattle wins? Nope. Alex Smith knows that the weight is on his shoulders, so he finally steps up and has a good game. Niners win…upset pick #3.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
Eddie – PANTHERS
Here are two teams that have caught me by surprise. I like the Panthers at home as Foster runs over the Bucs in a close game.
Fred – PANTHERS
Carolina is turning out to be a good all around team. Tampa Bay has been one of the surprises thus far.
Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers
Eddie – CHARGERS
Surely San Diego you can beat the Chiefs in your own backyard. This is your time to shine.
Fred – CHARGERS
Just like the Eagles did last week, the Chargers offense wakes up and lights up the boards. They win in a landslide.
Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts
Eddie – COLTS
Champ Bailey and Dre Bly may I introduce you to Manning, Harrison, Wayne and Addia.
Fred – COLTS
There’s no reason to pick against the Colts. They have no critical injuries. Both the offense and defense look great. And they’re at home this week.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
Eddie – EAGLES
Word on the street is – McNabb can still throw the ball. I think last weeks win for the Giants was a product of the Skins beating themselves.
Fred – EAGLES
The Eagles finally “got off the snide” and racked up the points last week. The Giants barely came back and beat the Skins last week. Giants will not be playoff bound while the Eagles should be, so Eagles get this win to go 2-2.
Monday October 1, 2007
New England Patriots at Cincinnati Bengals
Eddie – PATRIOTS
Enough said.
Fred – PATRIOTS
Patriots have done nothing but dominate thus far. On Monday night, Cincy should give them their first challenge, but it won’t be enough to get the victory.
