2007 NFL Week 8

2007 NFL Week 8

Sunday October 28, 2007

Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans

Eddie – RAIDERS
The Titans won an emotional game against the Texans last week but the Raiders are a different team. Some may call this an upset but the Raiders have the better team.

Fred – TITANS
Just like I said last week, Vince Young = a Win. And he didn’t even play last week! His presence on the sideline was enough.

Indianapolis Colts at Carolina Panthers

Eddie – COLTS
In 2003 the Colts came off a short week looking to stay undefeated. Deja-Vu. This year they play the Panthers looking to stay undefeated. Unlike 2003 though the Colts will win this time.

Fred – COLTS
It’s meant to be for the two best teams in the NFL to be undefeated when they play each other in Week 9.

New York Giants at Miami Dolphins

Eddie – GIANTS
The Giants can only lose this game if they beat themselves.

Fred – GIANTS
It’s the Patriots, but c’mon! The Dolphins looked like a pee wee league football team against them last week. The Giants are still hot and will definitely get the “W” on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean.

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears

Eddie – LIONS
The Lions appear to have their running game established with Jones back in the mix. This will help keep the Bears defense honest.

Fred – BEARS
In their previous game this year, Detroit put up 37 points against the Bears. They want revenge, and they are at home this time. The Bears win, but it’s an extremely close game.

Cleveland Browns at St. Louis Rams

Eddie – RAMS
Welcome back S Jax and let’s all congratulate the Rams for their first win.

Fred – RAMS
In 6 games, Cleveland is averaging 1 sack per game, which is tied for 3rd worst in the NFL. Bulger should finally have time to complete his passes and will have S-Jax in the backfield again. Upset pick #1!

Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings

Eddie – VIKINGS
Peterson will “Fly like an Eagle” as the hungry Vikings will look to dominate the defensive side of the ball.

Fred – EAGLES
The loser of this game will be 2-5, and probably not have a chance at a wild card bid for the playoffs. The Eagles have more veteran players, and a better coach. They pull this one out.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals

Eddie – BENGALS
Steelers should dominate the game especially after an upset in Denver but because this is a divisional rival I’m going with the Bengals’ upset.

Fred – STEELERS
Bengals defense is horrific so the Steelers will win in a high scoring game.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Eddie – BUCCANEERS
No Garrard no win.

Fred – BUCCANEERS
If Garrard was the QB, it’d be an easy pick. But, with a QB that has no control of that arm, it’s going to be easy for the Bucs to stack the box and prevent Taylor and MJD from running wild.

Houston Texans at San Diego Chargers

Eddie – CHARGERS
The Chargers will be playing to help relieve the stress of their city. Expect a major blowout.

Fred – CHARGERS
Chargers are off a bye week and Texans have yet another injured player…their starting QB. Even if Schaub plays, there’s no way they can win this one. The Chargers are refreshed and going to want to win this one for their city.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets

Eddie – JETS
Man-Genuis should have started Clemens several weeks ago. Although he may not get the start he’ll win this game for the J-E-T-S .. JETS JETS JETS

Fred – JETS
Pennington gets pulled from Clemens and the Jets comeback and win.

Washington Redskins at New England Patriots

Eddie – PATRIOTS
This is getting ridiculous.

Fred – PATRIOTS
Refer to comment above.

New Orleans Saints at San Francisco 49ers

Eddie – SAINTS
The Saints have the momentum and it appears Brees is back on track.

Fred – 49ers
As of right now, it appears Gore is playing. With Alex Smith back, and the game in San Fran, they should barely win this one. Upset pick #2!

Monday October 29, 2007

Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos

Eddie – BRONCOS
Broncos at home are a tough team to beat. Ask last week’s Steelers.

Fred – PACKERS
Off a bye week, and on a Monday night, the Packers secondary will put the clamps down on the Denver passing game and pull out the upset. Upset pick #3!

2007 NFL Week 7

2007 NFL Week 7

Sunday October 21, 2007

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

Eddie – SAINTS
The Saints may not be marching in but they’ll walk over the Falcons.

Fred – SAINTS
The Saints aren’t that bad and they have got to start a winning streak now. Leftwich gets his feet wet as a starter in his first game as a Falcon, and the Saints D takes advantage.

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Eddie – RAVENS
While the offense is trying to come together the defense of the Ravens continues to be the glue for this team. The Bills are no match.

Fred – BUFFALO
Buffalo is fresh off a bye week, playing at home, against the Ravens backup QB. Boller’s going to have a shaky start, and the Bills will exploit it enough to take an early lead and keep it. Upset pick #1!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

Eddie – LIONS
After a bye the Lions need this win. They need to keep pace with the Packers and try to stay ahead of an emerging Bears team.

Fred – LIONS
Also fresh off of a bye week, Detroit’s defense rattles Garcia and their chaotic offense finds a way to rack up just enough points to barely beat Tampa Bay.

Arizona Cardinals at Washington Redskins

Eddie – REDSKINS
Tim who?

Fred – REDSKINS
No matter who’s at QB, Arizona’s offense makes up for the shotty performance last week, but it won’t enough to beat Washington. The Skins barely win this one.

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Eddie – TEXANS
A.J. should be back. Green is back. The Texans are back.

Fred – TEXANS
No Vince Young = No Win. Upset pick #2!

San Francisco 49ers at New York Giants

Eddie – GIANTS
Eli looks like a different QB this year and if I can see I know the team can feel it. They prove this as the Giants improve their win streak to 5.

Fred – GIANTS
Trent Dilfer as QB = No Win.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

Eddie – PATRIOTS
No comment.

Fred – PATRIOTS
A team with a decent backup QB as the starter, just lost his #1 WR/TE target and is playing against the best team in the NFL. Hmmm…

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders

Eddie – CHIEFS
I think the offense is finally starting to gel and we might even get to see Priest Holmes play. Lamont Jordan is playing injured and D.C. looks like he’s having to learn how to play the QB position all over again.

Fred – CHIEFS
Even though it’s in Oakland, the Chiefs offense finally had a great game. LJ, Gonzo and crew are hungry for more.

New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals

Eddie – BENGALS
This is the last week I pick the Bengals if they lose once again.

Fred – BENGALS
Bengals go 1-5 by losing to team currently at 1-5? Impossible! Bengals score at least 5 TDs and easily beat the Jets.

St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks

Eddie – SEAHAWKS
With Bulger coming back it starts the process of the Rams offense being healthy but they are still missing too many pieces.

Fred – SEAHAWKS
St. Louis has to win a game eventually, but it won’t be until S-Jax gets back.

Minnesota Vikings at Dallas Cowboys

Eddie – COWBOYS
The manchild gets his dose of reality in Dallas.

Fred – COWBOYS
Can Adrian Peterson repeat that amazing performance from last week? Yes he can, but the Cowboys offense as a whole will outperform AP.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles

Eddie – EAGLES
The Bears defense is no longer the DA BEARS DEFENSE. McNabb and Co. should have a field day.

Fred – EAGLES
Bears D is not what it used to be. McNabb, Westbrook and crew have their way, and get the W.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos

Eddie – STEELERS
Fast Willie Parker will exploit Denver’s weakness and carry this team to a victory.

Fred – STEELERS
Without Javon, the Broncos have the lost the last 3 games. The streak continues this week.

Monday October 22, 2007

Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars

Eddie – COLTS
Colts just have too much firepower for the Jags.

Fred – COLTS
The Jags go up against a team averaging 32.8 points per game. And this team has played against some great defenses (Tampa Bay, Tennessee, etc.). Lastly, they’re fresh off a bye week. Even though the spread is tiny, this is an easy pick.

2007 NFL Week 6

2007 NFL Week 6

Sunday October 14, 2007

Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

Eddie – BEARS
The only sort of offense the Vikings have is the rookie Adrian Peterson. Is that enough to beat the Bears in Chicago? You’ve answered your own question…….

Fred – VIKINGS
Upset pick #1! Fresh off of a bye week, Peterson and Vikings Defense come into Chicago and eek out the victory against the questionable Bears offense.

Tennessee Titans at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Eddie – TITANS
Titans are 2-0 on the road. The Bucs are 2-0 at home. The Bucs are 0-1 non-conference and the Titans are 2-0 non-conference. Which team will break first? I like the Titans.

Fred – TITANS
Both defenses are playing great, so that’s a wash. Even though the Titans looked absolutely terrible on offense last week, they still won the game. Along with losing another starting RB, the Bucs didn’t look very good either on offense, and they got blown out last week. This logic tells me that the Titans win.

Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns

Eddie – BROWNS
I actually like the new Miami QB. He seemed to be more athletic than Green but at 0-5 they have more issues to address than just the QB problem. The Dolphins won’t go 0-16 but they also won’t get their first win in the Dog Pound.

Fred – BROWNS
Cleveland now has the worst defense in the league (424.4 yards per game against). The winless Dolphins lost their starting QB last week. Who’s worse off? Since they’re at home, and it looks like Jason Wright will be their RB this week, Cleveland should win in a close one.

St. Louis Rams at Baltimore Ravens

Eddie – RAMS
I just think it’s a matter of time people see the Ravens for who they are. They are who you think they are… but the Rams won’t let them off the hook.

Fred – RAVENS
Gus zipped in through the air much better than Bulger has most of the season. The Ravens won last week, but didn’t dominate a pathetic Niners team…and they should have. This week, the Ravens get it together on both sides of the ball, and at home, McNair and McGahee rack up the stats and the Ravens win.

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Eddie – JAGUARS
I’ve been impressed with the Jaguars ability to control the game and not make mistakes. I’ll take the Jags in a close game.

Fred – JAGUARS
After winning two away games, and in Denver and KC, the Jags come home to play an injured Texans team whose running game is really hurting without Ahman Green. Jags win and go 4-1.

Washington Redskins at Green Bay Packers

Eddie – PACKERS
The Packers gave away last week’s game and the Skins looked better than they really are. The Packers will use this game to get back on track.

Fred – PACKERS
Green Bay completely outplayed the Bears last week. If it wasn’t for the turnover mistakes by GB, they would have crushed Chicago. The Skins did happen to crush the Lions…but c’mon, it’s the Lions. Campbell’s in for a rude awakening against the GB pass defense…and it’s in Green Bay. Packers easily win this one.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets

Eddie – EAGLES
If the field was only 50 yards and touchdown throws were only 5 yards then Pennington could probably lead the Jets to victory.

Fred – EAGLES
Not sure what’s going on with Mangini in New York. Thomas Jones isn’t being treated as a feature back, and a 5 year old could throw passes further than Pennington has been. Hey Mangini, start Clemens at QB and make sure Jones gets at least 20 carries! Since he won’t be doing that this week, and the Eagles are coming off a bye week with a healthy Westbrook. In the Meadowlands, the Eagles give the Jets a royal butt whoopin’.

Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs

Eddie – BENGALS
Larry Johnson is running… in the other direction with his new contract. The Bengals need this game so expect to see big numbers from Palmer.

Fred – BENGALS
As a rule of thumb, KC is usually money at home. At home so far this year, they barely beat the Vikings and lost to Jacksonville last week. The Bengals had a bye last week and lost the 3 previous games before that. Is a team with Palmer, TJ, and Ocho Cinco bad enough to go 1-4? No friggin’ way. They go into KC with a vengeance and light up the scoreboard.

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

Eddie – CARDINALS
I still have no confidence is David Carr. Go with the home team.

Fred – CARDINALS
Carr is not the answer for the Panthers. Kurt Warner is still a beast at QB. If Boldin plays this week, Arizona destroys Carolina. Else, it’s a close game.

Oakland Raiders at San Diego Chargers

Eddie – CHARGERS
Run L.T… runnnnnnnnnnnn.

Fred – CHARGERS
The Chargers kill the Broncos, and in Denver?!?! And Norv is still the head coach? Unbelievable! If the Chargers can overcome all that adversity and destroy Denver, then at home, they should continue the streak and beat down the Raiders.

New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys

Eddie – COWBOYS
If this game were in New England it would be easier to pick but I really like the Boys this game. I’ll try to use some logic here… The Patriots won’t go 16-0 and might lose weeks 16 and 17 as they rest their starters. With that said, that leaves the Colts and the Cowboys as statement games. They’ll lose to Dallas this week and then beat the Colts later on.

Fred – PATRIOTS
The first big game of the year with two 5-0 teams going head-to-head. Patriots still look unstoppable, while the Cowboys almost blow it to Buffalo. The best team in the NFL wins in Dallas.

New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks

Eddie – SEAHAWKS
Seattle is a hard place to go in and win. Saints are now again the Aints. Go with the Hawks.

Fred – SAINTS
Reggie Bush is due for a few SportsCenter highlights. The Saints have to win a game, and why not against a Seattle team with receiver issues that’s affecting the whole offense. Upset pick #2!

Monday October 15, 2007

New York Giants at Atlanta Falcons

Eddie – GIANTS
So much for Eli’s shoulder injury and Plaxico’s ankle. The G-G-G-men are getting it done.

Fred – GIANTS
With the way he’s coaching this team so far, Petrino looks like he shouldn’t have left the college scene. Petrino, you have an explosive RB that’s dieing to get the carries…play Norwood! In New York, the Giants went from a group of duds (starting season 0-2) to studs (winning next 3 in fashion). The Giants continue their win streak and go 4-2.

2007 NFL Week 5

2007 NFL Week 5

Sunday October 7, 2007

Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs

Eddie – JAGUARS
Even with the last two victories for the Chiefs I’m still not convinced they have turned things around. The Jags can come in take control of the game like they did against Denver. Chiefs won the last matchup between the two so it’s time for some payback.

Fred – JAGUARS
Jags had a bye last week so their fresh. They also beat the Broncos in Denver in Week 3. After the game this Sunday, they will begin being talked about as another one of the great AFC teams.

Detroit Lions at Washington Redskins

Eddie – LIONS
I’ll keep saying this week in and week out – the Lions’ offense is a machine and the Redskins just can’t match up. The only thing going for the Skins is that this is in DC.

Fred – LIONS
Upset Pick #1…and it’s the only one this week! As of the time of this writing, Santana Moss is highly unlikely to play. With Kevin Jones back, Detroit’s offense is even more potent. They get it done in Washington.

Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots

Eddie – PATRIOTS
Notice to the Browns: The Patriots are not the Bengals or the Ravens.

Fred – PATRIOTS
When the Patriots lose one-to-two games this year, it won’t be at home, and will definitely not be against the Browns.

Carolina Panthers at New Orleans Saints

Eddie – SAINTS
The Saints take advantage of a broken down Carr and ride the bus to a victory.

Fred – SAINTS
After a bye week, can a 2006 “Coach of the Year” figure out how to beat a 2-2 Panthers team with Carr at QB? I would hope so.

New York Jets at New York Giants

Eddie – GIANTS
I thought the loss of Tiki Barber would destroy the Giants. Then when Jacobs went down I figured they were a lock for the number one draft pick next year but the Giants just won’t give up. I’m actually impressed.

Fred – GIANTS
The on-fire Giants team against an offense that couldn’t even rack up the points on the worst defense in the NFL…the Giants should win the “Battle of NY”.

Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams

Eddie – CARDINALS
What a difference a different a head coach can make. Example: San Diego Chargers. Proof – this game’s winner – Cardinals.

Fred – CARDINALS
No S-Jax, a Benched Bulge, and a demoted offensive coordinator…things just don’t look very good in St. Louis. With Gus at QB and someone different calling the plays, they will make it a close game. But, with Warner coming off the bench and Arizona’s pass offense is on the attack, they’ll undoubtedly get more points than the Rams.

Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers

Eddie – STEELERS
This should be a good game but I feel the Steelers will bounce back from a loss to the Cardinals.

Fred – STEELERS
The Seahawks dominated the game last week against the Niners. This week, they travel to Pittsburgh to play an angry Steelers defense. Pittsburgh scores a lot early, holds onto the lead, and gets the “W”.

Atlanta Falcons at Tennessee Titans

Eddie – TITANS
Harrington is starting to show signs of life in an offensive system he thrives in but I think Young and company is too much for the Falcons defense to handle.

Fred – TITANS
In Week 3, the Titans put the smack down on the Saints. Last week, they had a bye. This week, they’re at home against the 1-3 Falcons. The Titans will win in a close one.

Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans

Eddie – TEXANS
This game is for the Texans to show the world they are for real. I like the Texans but in a close win.

Fred – TEXANS
Even without their #1 RB and WR last week, Schaub still had over 300 yards passing. This week he’s going against a defense that let Culpepper score 5 TDs against them last week, and the Jets score 31 points the previous week. Schaub has a huge day and Houston wins in a high-scoring affair.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Indianapolis Colts

Eddie – COLTS
Who can stop the Colts? Well for certain it won’t be Tampa Bay.

Fred – COLTS
The Bucs defense has stepped up. But, even if they have to go without Addai, the Colts pass offense will not be stopped at home.

Baltimore Ravens at San Francisco 49ers

Eddie – RAVENS
The 49ers offense is lost and they won’t find it against a Ravens defense that has something prove.

Fred – RAVENS
Dilfer is the worst starting QB in the league! Even though the Ravens defense has been getting burned in the air, they turn it around this week and get at least 3 interceptions/fumbles and win the game.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos

Eddie – BRONCOS
Huge implications from the results of this game and it won’t be pretty for the losing team.

Fred – BRONCOS
What a disaster in San Diego! How can Norv and the other coaches destroy a 2006 14-2 team? LT has his way with the Denver defense, but it’s not enough to get the victory.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

Eddie – BEARS
The Packers have been riding on an emotional high for the last few weeks and it will be hard to maintain the intensity.

Fred – PACKERS
The Packers look so good right now, and they are having a great time out there. At Lambeau, the streak should continue against a Bears team which is still nicked up on defense.

Monday October 8, 2007

Dallas Cowboys at Buffalo Bills

Eddie – COWBOYS
Dallas meet 5-0. 5-0 meet Dallas.

Fred – COWBOYS
Even though they’re away (and up in Buffalo), the Cowboys have yet another easy win Monday night.
